The owner of Darnell Construction has a bag full of underhanded tricks to deceive the public. As a prime example of a crooked contractor, examining how Brian Darnell campaigns to avoid responsibility for mistreating customers can educate consumers about signs to be on the lookout for from other crooked contractors.
In prior posts we have talked about the Brian Darnell shell game. We have also shown how the reviews of the defunct Prodigy Restoration Group on the BBB website were not to be trusted. Another tactic that Brian Darnell has used is to mis-identify his business when negative reviews start to appear.
Below is the Google review for Darnell Construction:
After my unfavorable review was left the owner responded with the same misleading response that was left on Yelp.
Here’s his reply from Yelp:
You may have wondered why up in the corner of the comments it says XYZ Enterprise instead of Darnell Construction. The reason is that this is the tactic Brian Darnell employs, change the name of the business and the associated information that appears on Google or other sites in order to mislead the public into thinking the review that is returned is not of his business.
A normal business that is trying to build a ‘brand’ would not do such a thing, but for Brian Darnell and his long list of business entities; Darnell Construction, Darnell Group, Prodigy Restoration Group, Design Build St. Louis, Brian Darnell LLC, the business name is a disguise to hide behind and discard as the business accumulates unfavorable reviews.
Brian Darnell does not limit the deceit to just making up fictitious business names, in a future post we will expose how Brian Darnell will go so far as to steal another business entity logo to mask his own business.
